Hi! I’m Beth Telthorst, the head farmer at Trout Creek Farm. I grew up in Iowa playing in my family’s compost pile and learning from about gardening from my mother. When I got to college my love of soil and plant science lead me to the natural conclusion that I needed to be a farmer. With a degree in Biology, I spent the next four year being educated on small farms in Illinois, North Carolina and Colorado until I was ready to start my own. There’s nothing I love more than the work of a farm from weeding to harvesting and composting to saving seeds. It’s great being part of the farming community here in the Arkansas River Valley and working to make a local food system a reality for my friends and neighbors. Doing work that has a direct impact my future and the future of my community in a positive way, means a lot to me.
